古城山　前半は難所・山頂は広場　途中のピークは牛倒山（愛媛県松山市）標高201.42m

先日の東大栗町エリアの忘れもの登山、古城山に登ってきました。
東大栗町と権現町の境にあるお山です。
木野山神社から少し上に進んだところが登山口となります。

まずは細い舗装道を進んでいくと、墓地とソーラー発電所の入口があります。
このソーラー発電所の道を進めると、かなり楽に山の麓まで行けるのですが立入禁止です。
そのまままっすぐ山道に入っていきます。
最初のカーブあたりに、草藪の中にうっすらと道があります。
これが古城山に続く道です。見逃さないように！

笹薮が凄いのですが、道を切り開きながら一歩一歩進んでいきます。
かなり藪で嫌になってくるのですが、しばらく進むと、なんと左側に舗装路が見えてきます。
これが、先ほどのソーラー発電所の入口から続く道です。
失礼をして、舗装路に下りて進みます。
山の麓まで来たら、再び、元の道に戻ります。
これだけでも、本当に助かります。

この先も藪が大変ですが、木々の間を抜けて登っていきます。
YAMAPに道はないですので、等高線を見ながら進んでいきます。
イメージ的に最初のピークがあり、2つ目のピークが古城山と思っていたのですが、最初のピークから先は道がありません。
後で知ったのですが、このピークが牛倒山（標高190m）でした。
知らない間にピークを取っていました。

ピークから少し戻って、標高を下げると、古城山へ続くであろう場所に出ます。
ここから、登り直しです。
しばらく登ると、岩場が見えてきます。
岩場は左側から巻いて進みます。
その先には、なんと階段。
丘を登ると、まだ先がありました。
さらに先に階段があり、最後の丘を登ると古城山山頂です。

その名の通り、お城跡だと思うのですが、かなり広いスペースで驚きました。
三角点もしっかりあります。
木々の間から、堀江方面の海の景色を眺めることもできました。

思ったより時間がかかってしまいましたが、1ピークのつもりが2ピーク取れたので良し！です。

最初のカーブを曲がらずに笹薮に入っていきます

道を切り開いていて笹薮の写真を取り忘れましたが
突然横に歩道が現れますので下ります

The other day, I went on a “lost-and-found” hike in the Higashi-Oguri area and climbed Mt. Furushiro.
This mountain lies on the border between Higashi-Oguri and Gongen.
The trailhead is located a short distance up from Kino-yama Shrine.

First, follow the narrow paved road until you reach a cemetery and the entrance to a solar power plant.
If you take the road leading to the solar power plant, you can reach the base of the mountain quite easily, but it’s off-limits.
Instead, head straight onto the mountain trail.
Around the first curve, you’ll find a faint path hidden in the thicket.
This is the path leading to Mt. Furushiro. Don’t miss it!

The bamboo thicket is incredibly dense, but I pushed through, clearing a path step by step.
The thicket was getting pretty frustrating, but after walking for a while, I was surprised to see a paved road on the left.
This is the road that continues from the entrance to the solar power plant I mentioned earlier.
I’ll take the liberty of heading down onto the paved road and continuing along it.
Once I reach the foot of the mountain, I’ll return to the original trail.
This alone is a huge help.

The thicket remains challenging ahead, but I make my way up through the trees.
Since there’s no trail marked on YAMAP, I proceed by following the contour lines.
I had imagined there was a first peak, and that the second peak was Furushiroyama, but there’s no trail beyond the first peak.
I found out later that this peak was Ushitaoshi-yama (elevation 190 m).
I’d reached the summit without even realizing it.

After backtracking a bit from the peak and descending slightly, I came to a spot that seemed to lead to Furushiro-yama.
From here, it was time to start climbing again.
After climbing for a while, a rocky area came into view.
I skirted around the rocky area on the left side.
Beyond that, to my surprise, there were stairs.
After climbing the hill, there was still more to go.
Further ahead were more stairs, and after climbing the final hill, I reached the summit of Furushiro-yama.

True to its name, I assume it’s the site of an old castle, and I was surprised by how spacious the area was.
There’s also a survey marker right there.
Through the trees, I could even see the ocean view toward Horie.

It took longer than I expected, but since I ended up bagging two peaks when I’d only planned on one, I’ll call it a success!
