塩塚峰　野焼き後のツートンカラーの草原尾根歩き（愛媛県四国中央市、徳島県三好市）標高1043.2m

四国中央市に来たので、塩塚峰に行ってきました。
山頂近くまで車で行けます。

とはいうものの
行きはgoogle mapのおかげで地獄の道
帰りは車のナビのおかげで天国の道
でした。
先日もそうでしたが、google mapと山の相性は悪すぎますね（汗）

ということで、塩塚高原の展望所の駐車場から登山開始です。
車を停めて少し登ると、塩塚高原展望台があります。
東西南北の山々がパネルに記載されています。
この日は、雲がかかっていて遠くの山は見えませんでした。残念。
天気がよければ、剣山から三峰、天狗塚まで見えるそうです。

ここから塩塚峰まで800m。
登山というよりは、草原の丘を散歩する感じです。
ずっと塩塚峰までの尾根道を眺めながら歩けます。

塩塚高原は、ススキ草原の維持のために、春に野焼きを行っています。
真っ黒に焼かれた斜面からは、新しい植物が出てきていました。

20分ほどで塩塚峰山頂に到着。
かなり離れていますが、広義の石鎚山脈だそうです。
新宮少年自然の家による山頂モニュメントが迎えてくれます。
雲は多いですが、青空も見えて、気持ちのよい草原です。
野焼きとのコントラストが良い感じでした。

塩塚峰に行くためには、塩塚高原キャンプ場を目指して
ここから登っていきましょう！
（google mapの道は信じちゃダメ！）

展望台には東西南北に山名を表示したプレートがあります
こちらは剣山から天狗塚方向、残念ながら雲で見えませんでした

既に野焼きが終わっており、林床、尾根沿い、野焼きの斜面と、きれいに分かれています

階段を15～20分程登ると塩塚峰です
展望台から登った方が楽しそうですね

Since I was in Shikokuchuo City, I decided to visit Mt. Shiozuka.
You can drive almost all the way to the summit.

That said,
the drive there was a nightmare thanks to Google Maps,
but the drive back was a breeze thanks to my car’s navigation system.
Just like the other day, Google Maps and mountains just don’t mix well.

So, I started my hike from the parking lot at the Shiozuka Highlands observation deck.
After parking and walking up a bit, I reached the Shiozuka Highlands Observation Deck.
A panel lists the mountains to the north, south, east, and west.
On this day, the sky was cloudy, so I couldn’t see the distant mountains. What a shame.
Apparently, on a clear day, you can see all the way from Mt. Tsurugi to Mt. Mitune and Mt. Tenguzuka.

It’s 800 meters from here to Mt. Shiozuka.
It feels more like a stroll through a grassy hill than a hike.
You can walk the whole way while gazing at the ridge trail leading to Mt. Shiozuka.

To maintain the pampas grass meadows, Shiozuka Highlands conducts controlled burns in the spring.
New plants were sprouting from the slopes, which had been burned pitch black.

I reached the summit of Shiozuka Peak in about 20 minutes.
Although it’s quite a distance away, this is apparently part of the Ishizuchi Mountain Range in the broadest sense.
A monument erected by the Shingu Youth Nature Center greets you at the summit.
Although there were many clouds, patches of blue sky were visible, making for a pleasant grassland setting.
The contrast with the scorched landscape was quite striking.
