新割山・王子が岳　美味しいカフェと山頂広場とニコニコ岩（岡山県倉敷市・岡山県玉野市）標高233.9m

岡山県倉敷市の海沿いに進むと、王子が岳という山があります。
百済姫の8人の子ども（王子）がすんでいたという伝承に由来するそうです。

ここの王子が岳パークセンターにbelkさんという海の見える人気のカフェがあります。
まずはここに朝一で並んで、美しい景色を見ながら美味しい珈琲とケーキを頂きました。

王子が岳パークセンターの屋上は展望エリアとなっています。
青空と瀬戸内海、そして、瀬戸大橋を香川から岡山まで一望できる素晴らしい眺望エリアです。

王子が岳の本来の山の名前は新割山。
王子が岳パークセンターから3分弱で山頂に辿り着きます。
気持ちの良い芝生の丘です。
新割山の山頂標識、観月堂と名付けられた東屋、観月堂の横には三角点があります。
ここから見えるのが「ニコニコ岩」の岩場。

王子が岳パークセンターから10分程度歩けば到着するので行ってみます。
途中には展望エリアがいくつかあります。
王子が岳は岩場が多く、ボルタリングの聖地でもあるそうです。
「ニコニコ岩」以外にも、「おじさん岩」「ひつじ岩」などがあるそうですが、見つけることができませんでした。

少し下って登り直すと「ニコニコ岩」に到着。
見事なまでにニコニコしています。
この岩には登れませんが、周囲の岩に登れます。
ここからも瀬戸内の海、対岸の香川の山々が一望できます。

王子が岳は道が整備されていて、スニーカーで楽しめる良い観光山行でした。
駐車場は王子が岳第一駐車場がお奨めです！

If you head along the coast of Kurashiki City in Okayama Prefecture, you’ll come across a mountain called Oji-ga-take.
The name is said to derive from a legend that the eight children (princes) of Princess Baekje once lived there.

At the Oji-ga-take Park Center here, there’s a popular café called “belk” with a view of the ocean.
We lined up first thing in the morning and enjoyed delicious coffee and cake while taking in the beautiful scenery.

The rooftop of the Oji-ga-take Park Center serves as an observation deck.
It offers a magnificent view of the blue sky, the Seto Inland Sea, and the Seto Ohashi Bridge stretching from Kagawa to Okayama.

The mountain’s original name is Shinwari-yama.
It takes less than three minutes to reach the summit from the Oji-ga-take Park Center.
It’s a pleasant grassy hill.
There’s a summit marker for Niigiri-yama, a gazebo named “Kangetsudo,” and a triangulation point next to it.
From here, you can see the rock formation known as “Niko-Niko Rock.”

It’s only about a 10-minute walk from the Oji-ga-take Park Center, so I decided to check it out.
There are several viewing spots along the way.
Oji-ga-take has many rocky areas and is apparently a mecca for bouldering.
Besides “Niko-Niko Rock,” there are supposedly others like “Ojisan Rock” and “Hitsuji Rock,” but I couldn’t find them.

After descending a bit and climbing back up, I arrived at “Niko-Niko Rock.”
It’s smiling so perfectly.
You can’t climb this rock itself, but you can climb the surrounding rocks.
From here, you can also enjoy a panoramic view of the Seto Inland Sea and the mountains of Kagawa on the opposite shore.

The trails on Mt. Oji are well-maintained, making for a pleasant hiking trip that’s easy to enjoy in sneakers.
