潮音山公園山頂展望台　向上寺の三重塔　平山郁夫氏の描いた景色（広島県尾道市・生口島）標高65m

生口島、瀬戸田の潮音山公園の展望台に登ってきました。
曹洞宗潮音山向上寺の上方にある公園です。
とはいうものの、登り方がよくわからず、とりあえず三重塔を目指します。
拝観料100円を支払い、階段を上ると、見事な三重塔が出迎えてくれます。
向上寺の三重塔は1432年（室町時代）に建造された国宝です。
13基ある国宝の三重塔の中では、最も新しいものなのだとか。

三重塔の左右から、潮音山公園に上がっていけます。
私は右側から上がりましたが、左側の階段が早いです。
途中に東屋がありますが、眺望は今一つ。

さらに少し上がると、展望広場に到着です。
広場は整備されており、眺望が良いです。
お隣の高根島の高根山もよく見えます。

潮音山公園には、平山郁夫先生が絵を描かれた場所がたくさんあります。
展望広場から三重塔をと海を描かれた場所があり、同じ景色を眺めることができました。

帰りは別ルートで三重塔を経由し、向上寺にお参りをして下りました。

高さは19m52cm
昭和38年に解体修理を行っているとのこと
昭和33年2月8日付けで国宝に指定されています

I climbed up to the observation deck at Chouonzan Park in Setoda, Ikuchijima.
The park is located above Shionzan Kōjō-ji Temple of the Sōtō Zen School.
That said, I wasn’t quite sure how to get there, so I decided to head for the three-story pagoda for now.
After paying the 100-yen admission fee and climbing the stairs, I was greeted by a magnificent three-story pagoda.
The three-story pagoda at Kōjō-ji Temple is a National Treasure built in 1432 (during the Muromachi period).
Apparently, it is the newest of the 13 National Treasure three-story pagodas.

You can ascend to Chouonzan Park from either side of the pagoda.
I went up from the right side, but the stairs on the left are quicker.
There’s a gazebo along the way, but the view from there isn’t that great.

After climbing a little further, I arrived at the observation plaza.
The plaza is well-maintained and offers a great view.
You can also see Mount Takane on Takane Island right next door.

Shionzan Park features many spots where artist Ikuo Hirayama painted.
There’s a spot from the observation plaza where he painted the three-story pagoda and the sea, and I was able to gaze out at the same view.

On the way back, I took a different route, passing by the three-story pagoda and paying my respects at Kōjō-ji Temple before heading back down.
