郭公岳 東高月山から標高差マイナス170m（愛媛県宇和島市・愛媛県北宇和郡鬼北町）標高1010m
東高月山から郭公岳へ。
ここから稜線をゆるやかに下り続けます。
標高差マイナス170mなのですが、最後に登り返しがあるので、標高差マイナス200mぐらいを下る感じです。
木々とシャクナゲの道を抜けていくと、広々とした場所へ。
ここが鬼王峠です。
小さな手書きの標識がありました。
少し休憩して出発です。
再び、木々とシャクナゲの道を進んでいきます。
最後に少し登り返して進むと、郭公岳に到着です。
郭公の読み方は「かっこう」
鳥のカッコウです。
こんな漢字だったのですね。
山名は、郭公が飛び交うことから名付けられたとのことです。
登山道は郭公岳で終了です。
ちょっと狭い場所に、山頂標識と三角点がありました。
鹿のコルからの、高月山から郭公岳の縦走でした。
帰り道は違う道で下りていきます。
日当たりがよくないためか花は少なめ
鬼王段三郎が大岩を投げた場所と言われています

From Mt. Higashitakatsuki to Mt. Kakko.
From here, we continue to descend gently along the ridge.
Although the elevation drop is 170 meters, there’s a final climb back up, so it feels like descending about 200 meters.
Passing through a path lined with trees and rhododendrons, we emerge into a wide-open space.
This is Oniō Pass.
There was a small handwritten sign here.
We took a short break and set off again.
Once more, we made our way along a path lined with trees and rhododendrons.
After a final short climb, we arrived at Mount Kakkō.
The character for “Kakkou” is read as “kakkou.”
It refers to the cuckoo bird.
So that’s the kanji for it.
Apparently, the mountain was named because cuckoos are often seen flying around here.
The trail ends at Mount Kakkou.
In a somewhat narrow spot, there was a summit marker and a triangulation point.
This was a traverse from Mount Takatsuki to Mount Kakkou, starting from Shika-no-Koru.
On the way back, I’ll take a different route down.
