大山・弥山　ガスと強風の中の初登山（鳥取県西伯郡大山町・伯耆町・江府町）標高標高1709m

愛媛県を中心に山登りをしているため、日本百名山にはあまり興味を持たないようにしています。
しかしながら、やはり近隣の日本百名山は登りたいですよね。
とはいうものの、中四国には3座しかありません。
四国に2座（登頂済み）と、中国に1座（未登）。
ということで、所属しているMHCの大山ツアーに行ってきました！

大山は初めて！標高約780mの夏山登山口から出発です。
天気予報は曇りでしたが、大山の山頂には雲がかかっています。
うまくガスが晴れることを願いながら登り始めます。

大山はずっと階段だよ！
と聞いていましたが、確かに、ずっと階段です。
これだけの道を整備してくださった方々に敬意しかありません。
とはいうものの、階段はやっぱり苦手です。
重心移動の練習と思って、登ってみましたが、後日、ふくらはぎがパンパンでした。
修行が全く足りていませんね（泣）

階段のため同じような景色が続くのですが、「◯合目」の表示されていますので、気持ち的には楽です。
二合目を過ぎたあたりが標高1000m。
五合目あたりまでは、時々、下界の眺望を眺めることができました。
五合目には。元遥拝所であった場所に「山の神さん」の祠があります。
無事に登山できるようにご挨拶。

六合目あたりから周囲はガスに包まれ真っ白に。
八合目では、霧雨と強風となってしまいました。寒い。

八合目からは木道となります。
木道の両サイドには、有名なダイセンキャラボクが。
ゆっくり見る間もなく、雲の中を突き進んでいきます。
晴れていると、美しい稜線と、宍道湖まで見える広大な景色が楽しめるはずなのですが、真っ白です。
強風で吹き飛ばされないように必死です。
ガスの中にぼんやりと大山頂上避難小屋が見えてきます。
山頂までもう少し。
ようやく、弥山山頂に到着です。
石の記念碑で記念撮影。
一瞬ガスが晴れるかなと期待していたのですが、残念ながら、ずっと真っ白なままでした。残念。

避難小屋に戻って昼食です。
こんな天気ですが避難小屋は大渋滞。
皆さん、頑張りました。

帰りは別ルートで、大神山神社奥宮や大山寺の方へ下りていきました。
途中のブナ林が本当にきれいでした。

残念ながら眺望ゼロです！
木道と天候の相性が悪すぎる私…
今年の山の天気運は良かったので
瞬間的にガスが晴れると想定していたのですが叶わずでした

Since I mainly hike in Ehime Prefecture, I try not to get too caught up in the “100 Famous Mountains of Japan.”
That said, I still want to climb the ones near me, of course.
However, there are only three of them in the Chugoku and Shikoku regions.
Two are in Shikoku (already climbed) and one is in Chugoku (not yet climbed).
So, I went on a Mount Daisen tour with my club, MHC!

It was my first time on Mt. Daisen! We set off from the summer trailhead at an elevation of about 780 meters.
The weather forecast called for cloudy skies, and sure enough, clouds were hanging over the summit of Mt. Daisen.
I started climbing, hoping the fog would clear up.

I’d heard that Mt. Daisen is nothing but stairs!
And sure enough, it really is nothing but stairs.
I have nothing but respect for the people who maintained this trail.
That said, I’m still not good at stairs.
I tried to think of it as practice for shifting my center of gravity, but the next day, my calves were completely swollen.
I clearly haven’t trained enough.

Because of the stairs, the scenery stays pretty much the same, but since there are signs marking each “station,” it makes it feel a bit easier mentally.
The area past the second station is around 1,000 meters in elevation.
Up until around the fifth station, I could occasionally catch glimpses of the view down below.
At the fifth station, there’s a shrine to the “Mountain God” at a spot that used to be a place for distant worship.
I paid my respects, hoping for a safe climb.

From around the sixth station, the surroundings were shrouded in mist and turned completely white.
By the eighth station, it had turned into a drizzling rain and strong winds. It’s cold.

From the eighth station, the path becomes a wooden boardwalk.
On both sides of the boardwalk stand the famous Daisen charaboku trees.
Before I had a chance to take a proper look, we were pushing through the clouds.
On a clear day, you’re supposed to be able to enjoy the beautiful ridgeline and the vast view all the way to Lake Shinji, but it was completely white.
I was struggling just to keep from being blown away by the strong wind.
The Daisen Summit Shelter came into view faintly through the mist.
Just a little further to the summit.
Finally, we arrive at the summit of Mt. Daisen.
We take a commemorative photo by the stone monument.
For a moment, I hoped the fog might clear, but unfortunately, it remained completely white the whole time. What a shame.

We head back to the shelter for lunch.
Despite the weather, the shelter is packed.
Everyone did their best.

On the way back, we took a different route, descending toward the Okumiya of Ogamiyama Shrine and Daisen-ji Temple.
The beech forest along the way was truly beautiful.
