古法皇山　石灰山と尾根繋がりのお山　名前の由来はわからず（愛媛県越智郡上島町・弓削島）標高279.4m

スクーターで上島町の弓削島にやってきました。
2年ぶりです。
昨年は生名島の鉢巻山で熱中症で倒れてしまい、弓削島まで辿り着けませんでした。
本日は、弓削島の登っていない山々を登る、忘れ物登山です。

まずは石灰山と古法皇山から。
2つの山は尾根で繋がっていますので登山口は同じです。

まずは尾根までの道ですが、最初はシダ藪を越えて、枝払いをしながら登っていきます。
しばらくすると道がありますので、道を進んでいくのですが、様々な行く手を拒むトラップが待っています。
こちらも苦心して乗り越えて進むと、尾根に到着です。

右に進むと古法皇山、左に進むと石灰山です。
まずは標高の高い古法皇山へ進みます。
登り初めに分岐があるのですが、どちらに行っても同じ場所に行きますので、迷わずにまっすぐ直登コースを選びましょう。
傾斜はそこそこありますが、黙々と登っていくと古法皇山山頂に到着です。

三角点はなく、細い木に古法皇山の標識が結ばれていました。
文字は消えかけですが、山頂感を得る事ができるのでありがたいです。
木々の中ですので、眺望はありません。

ちなみに古法皇山の読み方がよくわかりません。
ある方の記事によりgoogleは「ふるほうざん」となっているのですが、過去の地名的には「ふるほうおうざん」だと思うのですよね。
ご存知の方は教えてくださいませ。

さて、分岐まで戻って、石灰山に向かいます。

I rode my scooter to Yuge Island in Kamijima Town.
It’s been two years since my last visit.
Last year, I collapsed from heatstroke on Mount Hachimaki on Ikuna Island and couldn’t make it all the way to Yuge Island.
Today, I’m on a “make-up hike” to climb the mountains on Yuge Island that I haven’t climbed yet.

First up are Mount Sekkai and Mount Furuhouou.
Since these two mountains are connected by a ridge, they share the same trailhead.

First, the path to the ridge: I started by making my way through a thicket of ferns, clearing branches as I climbed.
After a while, I came to a trail and followed it, but various obstacles lay in wait, blocking my path.
After struggling to get past them, I finally reached the ridge.

If you go right, you’ll reach Mount Furuhouou; if you go left, you’ll reach Mount Sekkai.
I decided to head for Mount Furuhouou first, as it’s the higher of the two.
There’s a fork at the start of the climb, but since both paths lead to the same place, don’t hesitate—just take the direct ascent route straight ahead.
The slope is fairly steep, but if you keep climbing steadily, you’ll reach the summit of Mt. Furuhouou.

There’s no triangulation point; instead, a sign for Mt. Furuhō was tied to a slender tree.
The lettering is fading, but I’m grateful it lets me feel like I’ve reached the summit.
Since it’s surrounded by trees, there’s no view.

By the way, I’m not entirely sure how to pronounce “Furuhōzan.”
According to one person’s article, Google lists it as “Furuhōzan,” but based on historical place names, I think it should be “Furuhōōzan.”
If anyone knows the correct pronunciation, please let me know.

Now, let’s head back to the fork and head toward Sekkai Mountain.
