横峰山　島四国八十八ヶ所　第60番霊場　横峰寺（愛媛県越智郡上島町・佐島）標高119.6m

弓削島から弓削大橋を渡って佐島に。
横峰山と石鎚山に登ります。

北側の海沿いを走ると、横峰山登山口の標識が見えます。
これを頼りに進むのですが、そこから先は案内が全くなく不親切。
ここであろう入り口を見つけて進んでいきます。
ちなみに、車では入っていけません。
今回はスクーターなので、ギリギリのところまで進みます。

山の中に入る道を見つけたので、ここを登山口とします。
しばらく進むと、島四国八十八ケ所、第61番霊場の香園寺の祠があります。
まずはご挨拶。
この上あたりが石鎚山なのですが、少し登るとシダが生い茂り、枝も張りまくり、登ることは難しそうです。

諦めて道に戻って進んでいきます。
しばらく進むと、折り返すような道がありましたので登っていきます。
シダの藪を抜け、登っていくと尾根に出ます。
左に進むと横峰山、右に進むと石鎚山です。
まずは横峰山へ。

とはいっても20mほど進むと石のお堂が見えてきます。
島四国八十八ケ所、第60番霊場の横峰寺です。
無事に辿り着くことができ、感謝を伝えます。

お堂の裏に回ると、3つの石が並んでいます。
おそらく、真ん中がご神体ですね。
ご挨拶をした前を通らせていただくと、奥に三角点がありました。

お隣のピークの石鎚山に向かいます。

案内標識で横峰山登山口が書いてありますが
もう1本先から左折した方がわかりやすいです

グルっと折り返すように山の中に入っていく道があります

From Yuge Island, I crossed the Yuge Bridge to Sashima.
I’m going to climb Mt. Yokomine and Mt. Ishizuchi.

Driving along the coast on the north side, I spotted a sign for the Mt. Yokomine trailhead.
I followed this sign, but from there on, there were absolutely no directions—it was very unhelpful.
I found what looked like the entrance and pressed on.
By the way, cars aren’t allowed to enter here.
Since I was on a scooter this time, I rode as far as I could.

I found a path leading into the mountains, so I decided to make this my trailhead.
After walking for a while, I came across a small shrine dedicated to Kōen-ji Temple, the 61st temple on the Shikoku 88 Temple Pilgrimage.
First, I paid my respects.
Mount Ishizuchi is located somewhere up there, but after climbing a short distance, I found the path overgrown with ferns and tangled with branches, making it look difficult to ascend.

I give up and head back to the trail to continue on.
After walking a while, I come to a path that seems to loop back, so I start climbing it.
Passing through the fern thicket and continuing upward, I emerge onto a ridge.
To the left is Mt. Yokomine; to the right is Mt. Ishizuchi.
First, I’ll head to Mt. Yokomine.

That said, after walking about 20 meters, a stone hall comes into view.
This is Yokomine-ji Temple, the 60th sacred site on the Shikoku 88 Temple Pilgrimage.
I’m grateful to have arrived safely and offer my thanks.

Going around to the back of the hall, I see three stones lined up.
Presumably, the one in the middle is the sacred object.
After paying my respects, I walk past it and find a triangulation point further back.

I head toward Mount Ishizuchi, the neighboring peak.
