梅雨明けです！
午前中だけフリーになれたので
早起きして、篠山に行ってきました。
宇和島道路ができて、松山から津島まで一気に行けるようになりましたのでありがたいですね。

篠山は初めて。
とはいうものの、チャレンジ3回目です。
1回目は登山口が思ったより遠く、到着したのが17時半だったので諦めました。
2回目は宿毛津島線の川沿いから登って、駐車場まであと300mというところで倒木により道が塞がれ諦めました。（道が悪いのですが…）

そして、3回目の本日は晴天の中、気分良く上がっていったのですが、すぐに霧の中に。
7合目から8合目の道では、60cmぐらいの岩で塞がれていて、頑張ってずらしました。
到着した第1駐車場を含めて雲の中、霧の中でした。
うーん、ツイてないですね。

気を取り直して、第1駐車所の登山口から登っていきます。
この時点で既に8合目。
山頂まで残り1000mです。

山頂にある篠山神社への参道でもありますので、道が整備されています。
とはいうものの、地面は濡れていますので、落ち葉、木の根、岩で滑りますので要注意です。
霧の中は涼しく、なかなか幻想的です。
途中で日が差すこともあり、山頂での好天に期待しながら登ります。

篠山は嵐に弱い山という認識なのですが、所々、崩れてガレ場になっている場所もあります。
700m進んだところで、第2駐車場からのルートと合流です。
このあたりは、弘法大師により開山された「観世音寺」跡とのことです。

ここから、鹿の食害からミヤコザサを守るために、ネットで防護されたエリアに入ります。
残り300m、扉を開けて先に進みます。
篠山山頂自然林エリア。
立派な大木の横を登っていきます。

尾根に出ると「入らずの森」の標識があります。
扉がありますが、ミヤコザサ保護のため、私たちも入れませんでした。

ここから篠山神社の石の階段がスタート。
狛犬が2回お出迎えしてくれて、鳥居をくぐります。
篠山神社に3度目の正直で、無事に登れたことの感謝を伝えます。

社の左側から回り込むと、二等三角点のある山頂です。
隣に小さな池があるのですが、「矢筈の池」というそうです。
篠山は、昔は矢筈山と呼ばれていたそうですが、この池が伊予と土佐の国境だったのだとか。

山頂から少し下がると、眺望の良い岩場があります。
残念ながら、雲で真っ白でしたが、本来は宿毛湾、宇和湾、鬼ヶ城山系が一望できるスポット。
この眺望は次回のお楽しみですね。

篠山を下ると、悔しいぐらいに晴天でした。
津島に新しくできた熱田温泉で、疲れを取ることができました。

The rainy season is over!
Since I had the morning free,
I got up early and went to Sasayama.
Now that the Uwajima Expressway is open, I can drive straight from Matsuyama to Tsushima—which is really convenient.

This was my first time in Sasayama.
That said, this was actually my third attempt.
The first time, the trailhead was farther than I expected, and since I didn’t arrive until 5:30 p.m., I gave up.
The second time, I started climbing along the river on the Sukumo-Tsushima Line, but just 300 meters from the parking lot, a fallen tree blocked the path, so I gave up. (The trail is rough, though…)

And today, on my third attempt, I set off in high spirits under clear skies, but soon found myself in fog.
On the trail between the 7th and 8th stations, the path was blocked by a rock about 60 cm across, so I had to work hard to move it out of the way.
Everything—including the First Parking Lot where I arrived—was shrouded in clouds and fog.
Hmm, I’m just not having any luck.

Pulling myself together, I started climbing from the trailhead at the First Parking Lot.
At this point, I was already at the 8th station.
There were 1,000 meters left to the summit.

Since this is also the approach path to Sasayama Shrine at the summit, the trail is well-maintained.
That said, the ground is wet, so be careful—it’s slippery due to fallen leaves, tree roots, and rocks.
It’s cool in the fog, and quite magical.
The sun occasionally breaks through along the way, so I keep climbing, hoping for clear weather at the summit.

Sasayama is known to be vulnerable to storms, and in some places, the slope has collapsed, creating scree fields.
After proceeding 700 meters, the trail merges with the route from the second parking lot.
This area is said to be the site of “Kanzeon-ji Temple,” which was founded by Kobo Daishi.

From here, we enter an area protected by netting to shield the Miyako bamboo from deer damage.
With 300 meters remaining, we open the gate and continue onward.
The Shino-yama Summit Natural Forest Area.
We climb alongside magnificent, towering trees.

Upon reaching the ridge, we see a sign reading “Forest Off-Limits.”
There is a gate, but to protect the Miyako bamboo, we were not allowed to enter.

This is where the stone steps leading to Shino-yama Shrine begin.
We are greeted by two komainu (guardian dogs) and pass through the torii gate.
At Shinoyama Shrine, on our third attempt—third time’s the charm—we expressed our gratitude for having made it to the summit safely.

Circling around to the left side of the shrine brings you to the summit, where a second-class triangulation point is located.
There’s a small pond next to it, apparently called “Yahazu Pond.”
Shinoyama was apparently once called Mount Yahazu, and this pond is said to have marked the border between the provinces of Iyo and Tosa.

A short way down from the summit is a rocky outcrop with a great view.
Unfortunately, it was completely shrouded in clouds, but normally this spot offers a panoramic view of Sukumo Bay, Uwa Bay, and the Onigajo mountain range.
I’ll have to save that view for my next visit.

As I descended Mount Shinoyama, the weather cleared up—almost frustratingly so.
I was able to relax and recover at the newly opened Atsuta Onsen in Tsushima.
