国道11号線から滑川渓谷方面の県道302号線へ曲がります。
林道改修記念碑のある郷集落入口の丁字路を左折し、白山神社への細道を登っていきます。
今回はスクーターで行きましたが、軽自動車でギリギリでしょうか。
集落の方のための道ですので、スクーターをお奨めします。
一本道を登っていくと白山神社に。
さびれた感じですが、境内に行くと、きちんと管理されていることが伺えます。
まずは、山に入らせていただくご挨拶。
そこから登っていくと郷集落に。
ここでスクーターを止めて、登山口を探します。
2軒しかない民家の真ん中にある小道が登山道です。
「お山へ行こう！」で予習していましたが、YAMAPでもわかりました。
生活道でもあり、鉄塔への巡視路でもあります。
よく整備された道で、とても歩きやすいです。
杉林の中をどんどん上っていきます。
鉄塔への分岐点がいくつかありますが、基本的には数字の大きい方へ、最終的には24番鉄塔を目指します。
（「お山へ行こう！」では22番鉄塔でしたが、こちらは難易度が高いです）
24番鉄塔は眺望が開けていて、松山市街への鉄塔のラインを眺めることができます。
南を見ると、白化粧をした石墨山が眺められました。
面木山山頂まであと少し！
少し進んだ先から地獄の登りが始まります。
杉の人工林と自然林の境目が登山道です。
標高差100m程ですが、直登の道です。
途中にロープを2ヶ所張ってくれていました。
ありがたいですね。
直登を終えると、そこには辺り一面の杉が伐採された山頂がありました。
切り株の間を抜けて山頂に。
過去にはなかったケルンがあり、その上に面木山の標識が。
この日は寒かったのですが、吹きっ晒しの風が身に堪えました。
山の南東側に回ると、そこからは雪の石鎚山系が一望できるスポットが！
この素晴らしい景色を眺めながら、おにぎりタイムとなりました。
ここから道は1車線ぎりぎりでかなり細いです
まずはご挨拶して、さらに道を上がっていきます

電線が延びる鉄塔を一望できるのもよいですね

途中で２か所ほどロープを張ってくれています
行きはよいよい、帰りはあっという間です
奥には石鎚山系を眺められます
おにぎりを食べながら、じっくりと堪能させていただきました

From National Route 11, turn onto Prefectural Route 302 in the direction of Namekawa Valley.
Turn left at the crossroads at the entrance of the village where there is a monument to the renovation of the forest road, and go up the narrow road to the Shirayama Shrine.
This time we took a scooter, but a light car would be just fine.
A scooter is recommended since the path is for the people of the village.
Climbing up a straight road, we came to Shirayama Shrine.
It looks deserted, but when you enter the shrine grounds, you can see that it is well maintained.
First of all, we greet the visitors who are allowed to enter the mountain.
Climbing up from there, we came to the village of Goh.
We parked our scooters here and looked for the trailhead.
The trail leads to a small path in the middle of only two houses.
I had learned about the trail in “Let’s Go to the Mountain! but even YAMAP could see it.
It is both a path for daily life and a patrol route to a steel tower.
The path is well maintained and very easy to walk on.
The path goes up through a cedar forest.
There are several turnoffs to the pylons, but we basically headed in the direction of the higher number, eventually reaching pylon 24.
(In “Let’s go to the mountain!”, it was tower No. 22, but this one is more challenging).
Tower 24 has an open view, and you can see the line of towers to the city of Matsuyama.
Looking south, we could see Mt. Ishiboku with white makeup.
We are almost to the summit of Mt.Omonoki!
A little further on, the ascent of hell begins.
The border between the artificial cedar forest and the natural forest is the trail.
The difference in elevation is about 100 meters, but it is a direct ascent.
There were two ropes along the way.
We are grateful for that.
When we finished the direct ascent, we found ourselves at the summit of a mountain where cedars had been cut down all around.
We passed between stumps to reach the summit.
There was a cairn, which had not been there in the past, and a sign for Mt.Omonoki.
It was cold that day, and the bleak wind was hard on me.
Turning to the southeast side of the mountain, we found a spot from which we could see the Ishizuchi mountain range in the snow!
It was time for onigiri (rice balls) while admiring this wonderful view.
