雲辺寺 四国八十八ヶ所の最高標高のお寺（徳島県三好市）標高911m
雲辺寺山に登ったら、雲辺寺にお参りです。
四国八十八ヶ所最高標高のお寺です。
1位 雲辺寺 標高911m
2位 焼山寺 標高800m
3位 横峰寺 標高750m
恥ずかしながら、四国に住んでいながら、四国八十八ヶ所の知識に乏しいのですが、観光としても見どころがたくさんあるお寺です。
本堂のご本尊は千手観世音菩薩。
大師堂があり、周囲には五百羅漢が並んでいます。
五百羅漢は「自分や知人に似た像が必ず見つかる」とのことですが、あまり自分には会いたくないような気もします（笑）
前回は「おたのみなす」をくぐって願掛けをしたのですが、今回は家族連れが多くてくぐれず。
代わりに見つけたのが「天祐の鼇」と名づけられた石の大亀です。
雲辺寺の山号は大きな亀を意味する巨鼇山。
2023年5月に安置されたそうです。
前回お参りしたのが、2023年4月だったので、すぐ後だったのですね。
ちなみに「天祐」とは、
人知を超えたものの助けにより、思いがけず物事が上手くいく意味。
「天の助け」「神の加護」を意味する言葉。
だそうです。
いろいろ、思いがけず、上手くいってほしいですね。
皆さんへの願掛けをさせていただきました。

After climbing Unpenji Mountain, visit Unpenji Temple.
It’s the highest temple on the Shikoku 88 Temple Pilgrimage.
1st Place: Unpenji Temple, Elevation 911m
2nd Place: Syouzanji Temple, Elevation 800m
3rd Place: Yokomineji Temple, Elevation 750m
I’m ashamed to admit that despite living in Shikoku, my knowledge of the Shikoku 88 Temple Pilgrimage is lacking. However, this temple has many attractions even for sightseeing.
The principal image in the main hall is the Thousand-Armed Kannon Bodhisattva.
There is a Daishi Hall, and around it stand five hundred arhats.
It’s said that among the five hundred arhats, “you will definitely find a statue resembling yourself or someone you know,” but I kind of hope I don’t run into myself.
Last time, I made a wish by passing through the “Ota no Minasu” (a tunnel-like structure), but this time there were too many families and I couldn’t get through.
Instead, I found a large stone turtle named “Tenyu no Ao” (Divine Aid Turtle).
Unpenji Temple’s mountain name is Kyōao-san, meaning “Great Turtle Mountain.”
It was apparently enshrined in May 2023.
Since my last visit was in April 2023, it was just after that.
Incidentally, “Tenyu” means
things unexpectedly going well through help beyond human understanding.
It’s a word signifying “heavenly aid” or “divine protection.”
I hope many things unexpectedly go well.
I made a wish for everyone.
