岳山・嶽山　鎖で登るもよし、回り道で登るもよし（愛媛県西予市）標高608m

嶽山遥拝所で石鎚山を遥拝して、道路側を振り返ると、山肌に鳥居があります。
鳥居をくぐって階段を上がると、太い鎖が待っています。
そう！岳山へ登る鎖場です！

しばらく悩んだのですが、鎖は諦めて、安全な登山道にて登ります。
登山道は2ヵ所あるのですが、鳥居の右手にある道がわかりやすく、登りやすいです。
（鳥居の左手にある道はよくわからずでした）
落ち葉でいっぱいの道で、滑りやすいので要注意です。
しばらく登って、少し下って、再び登っていくと尾根に出ます。

道は左側に続いていますが、まずは右手に進みます。
少し登ると、岳山（嶽山）山頂です。
三角点も標識もありませんので、なんとなく最高点を山頂とします。

さて、戻って左手の尾根道を進んでいきます。
しばらく進んで少し下りると、鉄橋があります。
ここに橋を作るって、凄いですよね！

鉄橋を渡ると展望所があります。
ここからの眺望も素晴らしいです！
ここが本来の嶽山遥拝所なのかもしれません。
展望所には祠があり、石鎚蔵王大権現が祀られていました。

さらに尾根を進んでいきます。
すぐ横に太い鎖を発見。
鎖道はここに続いているのですね。
上から見ると、なかなかの傾斜でした。

さらに奥に進んで、もう1つの道から下りようと思ったのですが、道がよくわかりませんでした。
草木が伸びて荒れておりますので、こちら側から登ってくる人は少ないのでしょうね。

諦めて、もと来た道を戻り、無事に下山しました。
さすがに鎖道で下りる気にはなりませんね（笑）

At the Mount Dakeyama Worship Site, after paying respects to Mount Ishizuchi, turn back toward the roadside and you’ll see a torii gate on the mountainside.
Pass through the torii and climb the stairs, where a thick chain awaits.
Yes! This is the chain section for climbing Mount Dakeyama!

I hesitated for a while, but decided to skip the chain and ascend via the safe hiking trail instead.
There are two trails, but the one to the right of the torii is clearer and easier to climb.
(The path to the left of the torii was unclear.)
The trail is covered in fallen leaves and slippery, so caution is needed.
After climbing for a while, descending a bit, and climbing again, you reach the ridge.

The path continues to the left, but first, head right.
Climb a little further, and you’re at the summit of Mt. Dakeyama.
There’s no trig point or sign, so I just assumed the highest point was the summit.

Now, backtrack and take the ridge path on the left.
After a while, you’ll descend slightly to an iron bridge.
Building a bridge here is amazing, isn’t it!

Crossing the iron bridge brings you to a viewpoint.
The view from here is also spectacular!
This might be the original site for worshiping Mount Dakeyama from afar.
The viewpoint has a small shrine enshrining Ishizuchi-Zao Daigongen.

We continued along the ridge.
Right beside us, we spotted a thick chain.
So the chain path continues from here.
Looking up, the slope seemed quite steep.

We ventured further in, intending to descend via another path, but couldn’t make it out clearly.
The vegetation was overgrown and wild; few people likely climb up this side.

We gave up, retraced our steps, and safely descended.
Honestly, I wasn’t feeling adventurous enough to try the chain path down.
