星ヶ森 美しき石鎚山の西遥拝所 横峰寺奥の院（愛媛県西条市）標高820m
横峰寺から納経所へ下り、仁王門をくぐります。
ここが名勝星ヶ森への登山口です。
google mapで目指そうとした所、全く違う誘導をされてしまいました（汗）
下調べは重要ですね。
登山口から砂利道の坂を登り、2回折り返して、約580m歩くと星ヶ森に到着します。
星ヶ森は石鎚山の西遥拝所としても有名。
江戸時代に作られた鉄の鳥居「かねの鳥居」が今もあります。
この鉄の鳥居、実は思ったよりも小さくて、高さは約130cmほど。
だからこそ、鳥居の中から、外から石鎚山を眺められます。
鳥居の横には弘法大師を祀る石の祠がありました。
弘法大師が、星共の密行「星供養」を行ったと伝えられていることから「星ヶ森」という名に。
景色が素晴らしく、帰ろうと思いながら、何度も戻ってきてしまいました。
次はここで星を眺めたいですね！

Descend from Yokomine Temple to the Sutra Office and pass through the Niomon Gate.
This is the trailhead to Hoshigamori, a scenic spot.
When we tried to reach the trailhead using google map, we were led in a completely different direction.
Preliminary research is very important.
From the trailhead, climb up a gravel slope, turn around twice, and walk about 580 meters to reach Hoshigamori.
Hoshigamori is also famous as the western sanctuary of Ishizuchi.
Kane-no-Torii,” an iron gateway built in the Edo period, still stands today.
This iron torii is actually smaller than expected, with a height of about 130 cm.
That is why visitors can view Mt. Ishizuchi from inside and outside the torii.
Next to the torii gate was a stone shrine dedicated to Kobo Daishi.
The name “Hoshigamori” comes from the fact that Kobo-Daishi is said to have performed “Hoshikuyo,” an esoteric practice of star-crossed devotion.
The view was so spectacular that I kept coming back, thinking about leaving.
Next time, I would like to stay here and watch the stars!
