鳥形山山頂展望台 日本一の石灰石鉱山を眺められる展望台（高知県吾川郡仁淀川町）標高1342m
中津明神山の山頂から、南側の高知県の山々を眺めていた時、1ヶ所だけ真っ白な滑走路のような山を見かけました。
何だろう？と思っていたところ、あるガイドさんから鳥形山のことを教えていただきました。
鳥形山は、昔は鳥が翼を広げたような形をしていたために名付けられたとのこと。
日本一の石灰石鉱山で、毎年1400万トン余りの採掘が行われています。
まだ100年以上採掘できるほどの石灰石があるとのこと。
鳥形山鉱山からは、高知県須崎市の港まで、なんと地下に23.3kmものベルトコンベアが繋がっていて、日々、石灰石が運ばれているそうです。
凄すぎますよね！
ということで、天気予報が晴れ！ということで行ってきました、鳥形山森林植物公園に。
ここには中腹展望台と山頂展望台があり、山頂展望台からは鳥形山鉱山を眺めることができます。
鳥形山は、もともと標高1459mだったのですが、現在は採掘により200m以上低くなっているとのこと。
鳥形山山頂展望台の標高は1342m。
つまり、上から眺めることができるのですよね！
…のはずだったのですが、山頂展望台は雲の中。
いや、さっきまで雨が降っていたっぽいです。
天気予報の嘘つき…
ただし、ロータリードリルやダンプトラックの音が聞こえ、すぐ近くで採掘しているのだなぁ、と気分だけ楽しませていただきました。
地元の方によると、毎日、12時にサイレンがなり、発破を行っているそうです。
次回は晴れた日に再挑戦したいですね。
追伸
その後に行った、黒滝山の中腹から鳥形山鉱山を眺めることができました。大きい！

ガスで鉱山が見えないのが残念
天気予報では晴れるっていってたのに・・・
お目当ての鳥形山石灰石鉱山は全く見えずでした
午後からはきれいに見えたようです
展望台からとは角度が違うのですが
これで半分の大きさです！

When I was looking at the mountains of Kochi Prefecture to the south from the top of Mt. Nakatsu Myojin, I saw one mountain that looked like a pure white runway.
I wondered what it was. One of our guides told us about Mt. Torigata.
Torigatayama was named because it used to look like a bird spreading its wings.
It is the largest limestone mine in Japan, with over 14 million tons mined every year.
There is still enough limestone to be mined for more than 100 years.
From the Torigatayama Mine, a whopping 23.3 km of conveyor belts are connected underground to the port in Susaki City, Kochi Prefecture, where limestone is transported daily.
It is too much, isn’t it?
So, the weather forecast was fine! So we went to the Torigatayama Forest Botanical Park.
There is a halfway up the mountain and a summit observatory, and from the summit observatory you can see the Torigatayama Mine.
Torigatayama was originally 1459 meters above sea level, but is now more than 200 meters lower due to mining.
The elevation of the Torigatayama summit observatory is 1342m.
So you can see the view from above, right?
…but the summit observatory was under cloud cover.
No, it looked like it had been raining until a few minutes ago.
The weather forecast lied…
However, we could hear the sound of rotary drills and dump trucks, and were entertained by the feeling that mining was going on in the immediate vicinity.
According to the locals, every day at 12:00, a siren goes off and blasting is going on.
I would like to try again next time on a sunny day.

We could see the Torigatayama mine from the middle of Kurotaki Mountain, where we went afterwards. Large!
